musical biography

Brian has been performing before audiences practically his entire life.  When he was 11 years old, he earned a spot on national television on Ted Mack's Original Amateur Hour, the predecessor to all of today's reality talent shows.

He began taking classical guitar lessons at an early age.  His interests soon broadened into jazz and country music by playing along with old recordings of Joe Pass and Chet Atkins.  In 1980 he released a debut album of jazz guitar numbers entitled Me and Marty.  He has had the same guitar, a Martin, for nearly 40 years, and often refers to it as "Marty."

Brian studied voice under the renowned Dr. Grace Nixon Stewart, and later with Richard Zeller of the New York Metropolitan Opera.  His vocal training enables him to deliver a wide range of tonal qualities, from contemporary to country to classical.  He has provided backup vocals for performances by Roger Nichols and Kathie Lee Gifford.

By the 1990s, Brian's musical focus shifted entirely to Christian ministry.  He has sung at many of the nation's prominent churches including Calvary Baptist, Trinity, and St. Bartholomew's in New York, Phoenix First Assembly of God, Saratoga Presbyterian in California, Fee-Fee Baptist in St. Louis, Denver First Church of the Nazarene, Hawthorne Gospel Church in New Jersey, and many others. In 2007 he released a CD of contemporary Christian songs entitled A Towel and a Bowl.

Brian is a member of the Memphis Symphony Chorus and Bellevue Baptist Church choir.
